I use ifff to pair the maker with my wemo light switch so i can use a long press on the switch to open my garage door.

It works excellent for that and the setup is very straight forward.
I did coonect it to a sensor so it will show that the sensor has been triggered or not in the wemo app.
A while back a mate asked me to connect his garage door to his phone.
The garage door button has two wires as well.
You will just have to climb up and take a look at your opener to see where the wires will need to go.
Since the garage door can be open or closed by existing wall switches or car remotes the arduino will need to keep the wemo state in sync with the door in the case that something other than your iphone tells the door to open or close.
This so that the arduino can keep the wemo state on or off in sync with the garage door state open or closed.
Seeing most garage doors have terminals on them to connect up a push button switch it is pretty easy to connect up a smart device that can trigger the door when we did this the only option in our region was using a wemo maker.
I found the wemo instructions a bit vague probably as there target market was not just garage doors so i am sharing my config here.

We are turning the wemo maker into a second garage door button each garage door is a little different.
These two wires will need to connect to your garage door opener to the same location that your garage door button is connected to.
